How the Tignon Laws tried to Conceal African Beauty


Most times, head coverings are associated with religious practices, but it has extended into the fashion scene and it is worth every attention it draws.
     Before i go further, did you know that a decree known as the Tignon Law was passed to prevent women of African descent , Slave or Free, from unveiling their hair? They were to cover their hair and heads with a knotted headdress.



     Headdresses are not just a medium to conceal women's beauty but have been incorporated as a fashion accessory and are becoming mainstream not only for a particular religious sect. Modest Fashion Movements are emerging, while some of its designs are featured with head coverings, some are not and it is becoming a thing right now and i'm so digging it.

The Turban: Its origin can be traced to Southeast Asia and the Middle East.


Fascinators: I am going to call this a more decorative/ dramatic hat. 
Take a chill pill, this piece comes in different dramatic forms (LOL). it's not always like this. You could go subtle if you choose to. 

     

                               

People of different backgrounds cover their hair/heads for different reasons. It could be religious, maintaining a hair beauty regimen, fashion, or a habit. Whatever the reason, ensure the hair covering is well adorned to enhance your beauty.
